This arrangement is put together for the enthusiasts of castles, horses and culture. Of course, the course of the day also depends on the wishes of the group and we can spend more or less time on each part.
After firstly getting acquainted with the other members of the group, we leave to the Walbrych region and visit the castle of Ksiaz. The castle dates from the 13th century and has in the meantime been rebuilt. It is situated on a steep rock on the curve of the river the Pelczycy. It towers from everywhere, is five floors high and has 400 chambers. It has been built at the same place where in the 13e century the tribe citadel of the dukes of Swidnica stood. Around the castle there is a large park and the rebuilding continued until the Second World War when the last occupant, Earl Von Plersch-Hochberg, choose the side of Poland and sent his son to London to be a RAF-pilot. When Hitler heard this, the earl was brought to a concentration camp from which he did not return. The castle was then taken in use as a component of the concentration camp Gross-Rosen. At present it is a luxuriously hotel. Ksiaz is also internationally known for its famous stallion farm adjoining a riding school. This complex is situated next to the castle and is also visited by us. A large part of the halls was devastated in 2002 by fire, but very rapidly repaired with money donated by several countries.
The riding school hall is exceptionally beautiful and it is difficult to imagine how it was possible to build it with simple appliances hundreds of years ago. Further, there is a little shop in the halls of the stables where one can buy different horse items.
Depending on the time left, we will eat a lunch somewhere. After the lunch, we will go by car to the cathedral of Krzesow. The village is famous for its convent with a wonderful cathedral. It is incomprehensible that such an immense construction work is located in the ‘middle or nowhere’. We pay a visit to this cathedral which is entirely renovated the previous years when the ceiling paintings have been repaired. In the convent from the 13e centuries, nuns still work and live and it is well possible that you encounter them that. After this visit we can go on to the mausoleum by means of a special entrance.
Finally you are brought back to Jaskolka a couple of experiences richer. In pension Jaskolka we will eat dinner together and share with each other the impressions of the day.
